Ohio Wesleyan's Premier Improv Comedy Troupe!
WHAT IS/ARE THE BABBLING BISHOPS?
The Babbling Bishops is a performing arts group whose performing art form is like that of theatre, except for, of course, the lack of scripting. We are students dedicated to providing quality entertainment to the Ohio Wesleyan University student-body by using our collective talent in improv comedy. We present free shows about once a month in the Sty Smoker, and annually provide improv workshops in the first 8 weeks of school. We are also proud to provide one of the few alternatives to the musical groups at performance events such as Red and Black Review, Spring Cabaret, and Slice of Life. Our shows are packed with long-form improv, short form improv, games, and strange new things we think are neat. Sometimes our shows’ stylings come directly from the inspirations of Second City and I/O of Chicago, sometimes from Whose Line is It Anyways?, and sometimes we just come up with our own ways of using improv to entertain YOU. As long as it’s funny and unscripted we’re willing to try it!
When we aren’t on stage, we are actively working to improve our talent. This can be as easy as organizing trips to see local professional improv, or as elaborate as planning weekend trips to Chicago for personalized intensive improv workshops. We also rehearse/meet twice a week.
HOW TO SEE US PERFORM:
- Come to Stuy Smoker.. when you see posters or emails telling you to do so.
- Ask a current Bishop about the next planned show. For a list of curent Bishops go to Members.
- Look for campus-wide performances like Red and Black Review and Spring Cabaret, or Slice of Life.
(be sure to stay till the end, we always go on last!)
- Come to Grey Chapel on April 1st at 9pm for the 15-year reunion show!
- Offer us a job at your next event!
